The day of your wedding is the most important day of your life. The culmination of days, months—sometimes even years—of planning the affair, fitting the dress, editing the guest list and tasting the food, the lead up to the wedding celebration can be as overwhelming as it is exciting.

Throw fame into the mix—paparazzi outside your door, thousands of fans following your digital footprint, helicopters circulating the venue—and that excitement can fast turn into anxiety, with the pressure of your special and private celebration being documented in the public eye.

While it’s hard to keep anything hush hush in Hollywood, there are a number of celebrity couples that have successfully wed in secret. Take Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz, for example, whose February nuptials were only just revealed, with every detail but the date still under wraps. Or native Australian model Lara Bingle, who married Sam Worthington in Melbourne in December 2014, but only revealed their marriage (and little else!) in October the following year.

Consider as well the problem of photo sharing on the part of guests—these make up the majority evidence we have of Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner’s second wedding ceremony in Wyoming, courtesy of Orlando Bloom and Derek Blasberg—and their celebrity wedding planners, who want to share their work online for all to see.

There’s also the factor of the designers (Maria Grazia Chiuri designed Chiara Ferragni’s Dior gown for example; Karl Lagerfeld dressed Poppy Delevingne in Chanel on her wedding day) that want to share their custom creation with the rest of the world, and entice other couture clients to get married in their wares.

Unlike the fanfare and frenzy of a Kardashian wedding, where the reality stars document every minutiae across their digital platforms and television series, these celebrity couples have mastered the art of keeping mum about their intimate affairs (even requesting their star-studded guest lists to avoid using their phones).

Curiosities piqued? Surprise, Vogue has curated a list of 11 celebrity couples that have tied the knot without spilling the details of their special day.

On December 15, 2014, The Danish Girl star Eddie Redmayne and wife Hannah Bagshawe wed at Babington House in Somerset, England. As per People, a representative for Redmayne explained, “a small number of close family and friends” were in attendance. The rest is unknown.

On June 22, 2011, each famous actors in their own right, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz wed in New York City. The only guests present? Weisz’s son, Henry, Craig’s daughter Ella and a pair of friends, meaning the details of this wedding were kept in the family.

On December 28, 2014, Australian-born Lara Bingle and English actor Sam Worthington wed in Melbourne. Almost a year later, in an interview for KIISFM in 2015, Worthington confirmed the wedding, explaining there were no more than 10 guests in attendance.

On June 24, 2013, Scandal actress Kerry Washington wed Asomugha in a secret ceremony in Idaho, with news breaking a month later, in July. An expert secret keeper, news of Washington’s marriage was also a revelation that she had a partner, keeping her relationship with Asmogha until then under wraps.

Sometime in June 2014, The Handmaid’s Tale star Alexis Bledel and husband Vincent Kartheiser tied the knot. Besides their proposal, which we know took place in March 2013, little else is known about how, where or with who this celebrity couple’s special day unfolded.

Despite a digital following of 30.7 million on Instagram alone, singer Ed Sheeran has remained extremely private about his personal life, especially his relationship with now wife Cherry Seaborn. While we can only try to decipher the various lyrics in his love songs, The Sun confirmed in February that the couple tied the knot in Suffolk, England, with 40 guests in attendance.

Ever elusive, all that we know about Mary Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy’s wedding is that it took place sometime in 2015. That, and that any potential evidence on the part of guests was taken care of, with attendees forced to hand in their mobiles ahead of the festivities.

In contrast to the high profiles of their television characters, Gossip Girl‘s Leighton Meester and The OC‘s Adam Brody kept their wedding under wraps. In February 2014, the couple tied the knot, keeping the rest of the details top secret.

News broke last week that Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz were wed back in February. A marriage certificate was obtained in California in this same month (momentous because the pair first met on February 22, 2018). The details of the dress, the venue, the guests or the tracks played at the wedding remain undisclosed, for now anyway.
