Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is hoping for a big impact from loanee Martin Odegaard, saying it is ‘amazing to have him’ at the Emirates.

Odegaard joined the Gunners on loan from Real Madrid during the January transfer window.

He made his debut in the 0-0 draw with Man Utd. The 22-year-old also featured in the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Midfield teammate Partey wants Odegaard to help Arsenal achieve their goals this season.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, the Ghanaian international said: “It’s amazing to have him here. I hope he has a great season and he’s able to help us achieve what we want to achieve.”

Partey was also asked about playing against Odegaard during his time with Atletico Madrid.

Odegaard is currently on loan from Real Madrid, with the pair playing against each other in La Liga.

The player continued: “It’s difficult when you play against him. I remember playing against him, he’s so intelligent, he is always quick on the ball, he doesn’t give you a chance to win the ball.”

Odegaard has made 11 first team appearances for Real since moving to Spain in January 2015.

He is having to secure loan spells away from the Bernabeu to continue his exciting development.

Arsenal could make the signing permanent this summer, with Odegaard keen to escape the management of Zinedine Zidane.

It is hoped that the player will provide more creativity in Arsenal’s midfield.

They are aiming to get back into the top six after falling off the pace.

Arsenal are eight points behind David Moyes’ West Ham, who occupy sixth place after 23 matches.

The North London side will need talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to start scoring if that aim is to come true.

The 31-year-old has scored just three league goals in his last 12 appearances.

That includes two in the 2-0 victory over Newcastle United last month.

Arsenal’s next match is against Leeds on Sunday 14th February.
