Cain Velasquez Removes Himself from USADA Testing Pool
At least temporarily, it appears that Cain Velasquez is stepping away from the world of mixed martial arts. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the 37-year-old former heavyweight champion has removed himself from the USADA testing pool, which requires fighters to undergo drug testing for six consecutive months prior to competing.

Velasquez (14-3) lost the UFC Heavyweight Championship to interim champ Fabrico Werdum in 2015. He returned one year later to knock out Travis Browne in the first round at UFC 200, before taking a two-and-a-half year break from the sport due to bone spurs in his back. In February 2019, he suffered a 26-second loss to Francis Ngannou on the debut of UFC on ESPN.
It is expected that Velasquez will be focusing on professional wrestling full-time going forward. He will be part of a WWE press conference this afternoon in Las Vegas, along with Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman and heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury.
