STEPHEN ROCHFORD HAS named his side to face Monaghan in their league opener on Saturday, including two league starting debuts.

Donie Newcombe and Fergal Boland.

Castlebar Mitchels’ Donie Newcombe starts at corner back, while 2016 All-Ireland U21 winner Fergal Boland takes up his position in the half-forward line.

The team has seven survivors from the side which started the All Ireland final replay defeat to Dublin — Keith Higgins, Paddy Durcan, Colm Boyle, Donal Vaughan, Kevin McLoughlin, Jason Doherty and Cillian O’Connor, while David Clarke and Stephen Coen both appeared off the bench.

Meanwhile, Monaghan have included six members of last year’s Ulster U21 football winning team in their squad for Saturday’s Allianz football league clash with Mayo.

Attacker Conor McCarthy starts at corner-forward while on the bench there are five other players who won the 2016 provincial U21 decider against Tyrone.
