Chelsea target Mendy left out of Rennes squad ahead of transfer
Rennes keeper Edouard Mendy has been left out of their recent squad amid transfer interest from Chelsea.
The player is on the verge of a move to London after discussions between the clubs began this week.
Mendy has reportedly agreed a five year deal with Chelsea and is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea have now been handed a boost in their pursuit of Mendy after he was not named in the squad to face Nimes on Sunday, according to the Metro.
Fellow Rennes keeper Romain Salin will play instead and is expected to become the new number one once Mendy leaves.
The deal is now dependent on Chelsea and Rennes agreeing a fee. The Blues originally wanted to pay around £18 million, although Rennes are looking for more.
£25 million has been reported as the potential fee, although it’s not been confirmed just yet.
Mendy looks set to provide Kepa Arrizabalaga with competition as Chelsea’s number one shot-stopper. The 28-year-old kept 13 clean sheets in 33 games for Rennes last season, making him one of the most valuable goalkeepers in Ligue 1.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard seems keen to replace Arrizabalaga after a poor run on form last campaign. The Spaniard was replaced by Willy Caballero after consecutive sub-par performances.
Arrizabalaga even has the worst save percentage in Premier League history.
Should Chelsea complete the signing of Mendy, it would represent another quality signing during this transfer window.
The Blues have signed Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz, just to name a few.
They’ve spent around £200 million in an attempt to rival Liverpool and Man City for the Premier League trophy.
However, it could mean increased pressure on Lampard to succeed following such an impressive summer.
Chelsea’s first game is away against Brighton on Monday night. They will then play title rivals Liverpool at home on 20th September.
