Liverpool star Sadio Made was full of praise for new signing Thiago after their 2-0 win over Chelsea.

The Spaniard came on at half time to make his debut for Liverpool, replacing Jordan Henderson. It proved to be a comfortable second half for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Andreas Christensen went given a straight red card just before the break. The centre-back hauled down Mane who was bearing down on goal, and Liverpool were in control from here on in.

Mane scored a brace with his goals coming in the 50th and 54th minute to secure Liverpool a valuable three points.

Thiago immediately caught the eye on his debut, though. He broke the record for most passes completed by a player who featured for only 45 minutes.

The midfielder completed 75 passes in total, which was more than any of Chelsea’s players on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Mane hailed the impact of his new teammate after the game:

“Not only me, all the world knows what he is capable of doing.

“He is one of the best players in the world, so we are lucky to have Thiago in our team. And I think he showed that he is a great player.”

With this win, Liverpool continues their perfect start to the new season. They edged past Leeds in their opening game via a thrilling 4-3 victory.

Mane scored his first goals of the season against Chelsea. He admitted that it was a tough game for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Mane added: “It was a top game. Especially in the first half, we found it very difficult to create chances and I think when they got the red card, it made it easier.

“The second half, we created many chances and finally we scored two goals. I think today we deserved to win.”

“When he got the ball, I knew it will be difficult for him to have an option, the only choice was to shoot it.

“So I was in front of him and he tried to pass it. Unluckily for him, he made a mistake. Lucky for me and I scored a second goal for my team.”

Liverpool travel to face Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup third round on Thursday. Next up in the Premier League for Klopp’s men is Arsenal at Anfield on Monday.
