Man Utd ‘determined to spend a lot’ after humiliating 18/19
Manchester United are ready to break the bank to sign Matthijs de Ligt and other players after an unsuccessful 2018/19 season, according to reports.
Despite a rejuvenation at the beginning of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign, United had a miserable season, finishing sixth in the Premier League, while they failed to lift any silverware.
Meanwhile, neighbours Manchester City won the domestic treble, arch-rivals Liverpool beat Tottenham to win the Champions League and other Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea fought it out in the Europa League final.
A report in Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) has claimed that the humiliation of others being successful means that United are ‘determined to spend a lot of money’ this summer on De Ligt and other players.
Mundo Deportivo says that De Ligt, who has been heavily linked with United in recent weeks after a move to Barcelona reportedly stalled, now has four ‘important offers’ including one from the Red Devils.
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are the other three clubs understood to be in for the Ajax captain.
The report adds that this week could be ‘decisive’ for the 19-year-old as he will wait until after the Nations League to decide his future.
