More on Lenar’s SummerSlam Opponent, Jeff Hardy Update, 205 Live
It was announced earlier this week that there will be a singles match between Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley on Raw next week that will determine Brock Lesnar’s next challenger. Although some have speculated that WWE could be turning the match with Lesnar into a Triple Threat match involving both competitors, that is not expected to be the case. Cageside Seats notes that the feud between Lashley and Reigns will likely be coming to an end next week with Roman Reigns avenging his loss at Extreme Rules by defeating Lashley to earn himself a title match against Lesnar. The potential SummerSlam match will mark Reigns’ third match against Lesnar for the Universal Championship this year.
After being attacked by a returning Randy Orton during the Extreme Rules pay-per-view this past Sunday night, Jeff Hardy was once again ambushed by Orton during Smackdown last night. Orton interfered in a match and viciously beat down the former US Champion before then going after Hardy’s earlobe during the assault. Cageside Seats has now reported that the attack from Orton was only only done as a way to establish Orton’s heel turn, but it may have also been done as a way to give Hardy some time off from the ring. Hardy has reportedly been dealing with some injuries over the past few weeks, so it may be a while before Hardy returns to Smackdown for his inevitable match against Orton.
Cedric Alexander has been on a roll ever since he won the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania earlier this year, and he has continued to show why he is one of the best parts of 205 Live with each passing week during matches against the likes of Mustafa Ali, Hideo Itami, and Buddy Murphy. Of course, he is still the champion, so the other stars of 205 Live are just waiting to get that title shot against Alexander at some point. WWE announced during last night’s edition of 205 Live that there will be a number one contenders match next week when Mustafa Ali, Hideo Itami, Drew Gulak, and TJP compete in a Fatal 4-Way match. One of those competitors will challenge Cedric Alexander for the cruiserweight title at a later time.
