Sharpe was found dead in his apartment in his home city of Hamilton, Ont., Canada, reports PWInsider. Sharpe had been dealing with health issues for the last eight years, which impacted his quality of life.
On Monday afternoon, WWE acknowledged Sharpe’s death. WWE wrote: “WWE extends its condolences to Sharpe’s family, friends, and fans.”
Sharpe was a physically-imposing wrestler who famously called himself “Canada’s greatest athlete” and wore a black sleeve armband to the ring.
Sharpe was a utility player in WWF during the 1980s and early 1990s, never holding title gold. He was a champion in Mid-South, the NWA, and Stampede Wrestling in Canada.
Slam Wrestling inducted Sharpe into their “Canadian Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame” in April 2015.
