Shinsuke Nakamura Receives Brand New Intercontinental Title Belt on Smackdown
It’s out with the old and in with the new as WWE has debuted a brand new design for the Intercontinental Title on tonight’s WWE SmackDown.
Just one week after WWE redesigned the Universal Championship, the company has opted to debut another totally new design. This time, for the classic Intercontinental Championship.
Sami Zayn brought out the new-look title ahead of Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series event, giving it to the current champion, Shinsuke Nakamura as a gift. Gone are the white stripes as the old-school look of the title has been revamped with a more modern aesthetic.
This is the first time the title has been designed in eight years. The last change came when the white Intercontinental Title was debuted by then-champion Cody Rhodes, who brought it out as a throwback design to the classic belt.
So far the new design has been met with very mixed opinions on social media. Some fans seem to be absolutely loving the new look title, while others aren’t so keen.
