WWE 205 Live Results (05/08): Buddy Murphy vs Mustafa Ali

The show opens up with a preview of tonight’s matches including clips of promos from Lucha House Party, The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher, Tony Nese and Mustafa Ali & Buddy Murphy.
Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, and Percy Watson welcome us to the show.
Before the first match of the night, Drew Gulak makes his way down to the ring. He shakes a fan’s hand and immediately wipes his hand off on his suit. Gulak then heads to the commentary table and shakes Nigel’s hand but doesn’t shake Joseph’s hand. He then calls Lince “Dorito.”

Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado vs. The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher: Gallagher and Dorado get us started. Both competitors with rolling pins around and around the ring. Dorado with a plank like pin attempt on Gallagher. Kendrick is now in the match and is immediately thrown out to the floor. Metalik hits a big flip over the top rope and has a rough landing. Back in the ring, Kendrick with a boot to the head of Metalik. Gallagher is back in now and goes to work on Metalik’s limbs for a bit. Gallagher brings Kendrick back in and he stomps away at Metalik. Metalik is finally able to tag in Dorado as Dorado hits a springboard crossbody followed by a hurricanrana then a dropkick followed by a handspring stunner and goes for a cover, but it is broken up by Gallagher. Kendrick tags Gallagher back in and hits a running dropkick. Kendrick hits the sliced bread and goes for the cover, and Metalik breaks it up this time. Stereo super kicks and suicide dives by the Lucha House Party. Gallagher is thrown back in the ring. Dorado hits a shooting star press for the win. Winners: Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado
We get a promo from Mustafa Ali from earlier today as he is on a railroad track. Mustafa Ali hypes his match tonight against Buddy Murphy and says that tonight is about clearing the way. He then says, “Move or I’ll make you.”
We head backstage where we see that Buddy Murphy is talking with Tony Nese who wishes him good luck. Dasha Fuentes heads in and asks Murphy about tonight’s match. Murphy says that he has one blemish on his record in 205 Live and that’s his loss to Ali. He then says that he just hopes the champ is watching.
Tony Nese vs. Keith Clayball: Nese immediately goes to work with chops and kicks that sends Clayball right to the mat. Nese then taunts and kicks away at his opponent and puts him in the tree of woe position and kicks him a bit more while doing some crunches. Nese runs over Clayball and trips him from the apron to the floor and hits a running forearm. Back in the ring, Nese lines him up and hits a running Nese for the 1-2-3. Winner: Tony Nese

We get a video vignette for Itami as we get a number of people to hype him: Triple H, Big E, and Paige. Itami starts by saying that he didn’t like teaming up with Tozawa and that he didn’t think he needed a partner. We see a recap of the miscommunication from last week’s match when Itami was thrown into the ropes and Tozawa fell off the ropes, causing a loss for the team. It was also shown that Itami shoved Tozawa to the mat after the match.
We head backstage where we see that General Manager Drake Maverick calls Cedric Alexander into his office. Maverick says that he wants to be sure that the issues between Alexander and Murphy doesn’t spill over into tonight’s main event. The champ says that he made his statement last week when he attacked Murphy, and he’s content to let Ali make his statement now. But he’ll do more when he gets Murphy in the ring again. The General Manager also tells Cedric that next week in London, it will be the stars of 205 Live against the stars of the UK Championship division. Maverick then says that he wants Alexander to get the locker room ready to show what the cruiserweights are really all about. Alexander then tells Maverick to tell the UK guys to bring their A games.
Buddy Murphy vs. Mustafa Ali: Ali lands a couple of chops early on, but it seems to just anger Murphy. Murphy tries for a powerbomb, but Ali sends him to the floor. Ali goes over the top rope and lands on his feet. Murphy hits a running suplex on Ali on the floor. Both competitors are in the ring as Murphy tries for a pin, but only gets a two count. Murphy is getting a lot of offense in. Murphy tries for a crossbody, but Ali has the same idea and both competitors collide. Ali hits a running chop and goes for a rolling facebuster attempt, but it doesn’t happen. Both wrestlers goes for sleeper submissions. Murphy hits a cannonball into the corner to get Ali off his back. 

Ali hits multiple forearms, but Murphy comes back with a combination of attacks and ends up on the apron and Ali hits a sick looking DDT and goes for a cover, but only a two count. Murphy gets put up on the top rope. Murphy drops Ali to the mat and swings his knee right into Ali’s face. Murphy hits his own amazing DDT and goes for a cover, but only a two count. Alexander is looking on from the back. Murphy lands three powerbombs in a row and the referee is checking on Ali. Murphy tries for another, but Ali counters with a facebuster and goes for a cover, but only a two count. Murphy is put up on the top rope and Ali heads up and gets shoved off to the floor. Ali flips and lands on his feet. Murphy tries to drop down and gets a superkick to the face. Back in the ring, Ali tries for a 450 splash off the top rope, but Murphy hits a double knees on Ali’s arm. Ali looks for a tornado DDT, but gets caught in midair and is sent shoulder first into the ring post. Murphy hits Murphy’s Law for the 1-2-3. Winner: Buddy Murphy
After the match, Ali looks disappointed at ringside as Murphy celebrates to close the show.
